How to Get Funding from MacKenzie Scott

So many of our members ask how they can get the attention of MacKenzie Scott.

A few thoughts are below on "how do I apply for MacKenzie Scott funding?":

1. Do nothing but what you are already doing.

MacKenzie Scott is working with The Bridgespan Group to learn about, understand and investigate the work that's already underway. There's no trick to getting noticed aside from doing really great work that's making a difference and has the potential to scale. MacKenzie Scott's grants for now come from her Yield Giving program in the US, with our partner Lever for Change, and then more sporadically outside of the US.

2. Nip your M&E in the bud. How are you tracking your metrics? How do you communicate your successes? Make sure this is buttoned up and simple. SUPER simple.

3. Tell your existing donors that large, unrestricted funding would be catalytic and share with them how. Scott is talking to other donors and getting recommendations from them. Make sure your donors know what is possible with $1M, $5M or $15M.

4. Ramp up your comms. This doesn't have to be polished or expensive. Take some time to ensure you are telling the stories of your stakeholders and making your work known across social channels, a regular email cadence and especially with existing and prospect funders (our Donor Outreach Blueprint may help with this). Make sure your website is up to date as well. We've heard that polished websites go far with Scott.
